We are always in need of energetic volunteers for our committees.
Family Selection Committee — This committee goes with Oahu communities to present Habitat’s program to families in need, reviewing families, meeting with families, doing home visits, providing recommendation to the Board of Directors on which families will receive a Habitat home. Time commitment varies; Community Outreach Sessions are generally held 2-3 times a quarter, with the review of subsequent family applications received. This committee is directly involved in the mission of Habitat and members should have a passion for wanting to identify and work with families that need our help. Knowledge of mortgage financing a plus, but not necessary.
Finance / Mortgage Committee — This committee meets on a monthly basis and reviews the financial reports and mortgage reports of the organization. A good sense of financial management (balance sheets, profit and loss statements) is needed, as the financials of the organization can be complex. Mortgage restructuring and collections experience is helpful.
This committee is responsible for guiding the building projects from end to end. Includes potential family partner site visits, reviewing building plans, addressing issues identified in securing permits, construction progress, budget oversight, etc. This committee meets monthly (1st Thursday 11:30am–1:00pm) but can hold additional meetings depending on projects on the horizon.
ReStore Committee — This committee is responsible for advising our awesome ReStore! Members are needed to guide staff on business plan, policies and procedures, help solicit partners for donations, monitor operations, assess profitability, etc. Retail experience a plus, but not necessary.
